The dry-clutch DQ200 has no regular gearbox oil change in its schedule. Properly serviced, a DSG can last the whole life of the car.

What affects DSG lifespan?
- Oil changes: in wet-clutch gearboxes the oil cools the clutches and works as hydraulic fluid. Old oil is a common cause of jerking and mechatronic faults.
- Driving style: in the dry-clutch DQ200, a lot of stop-and-go driving and holding the car on a hill with the accelerator wear the clutch.
- Load: towing a trailer and heavy loads increase heat and wear.
- Software: the manufacturer releases software updates for the gearboxes that can improve how they work.
- Reacting to symptoms: a small fault is cheaper to fix before it damages other parts.
Tips for a long DSG life
- Follow the manufacturer’s oil change intervals – or change the oil a little earlier under heavy use
- Hold the car on a hill with the brake, not the accelerator
- Let the gearbox warm up before hard acceleration in freezing weather
- Book diagnostics as soon as you notice jerking or delayed shifts
